Alantra, an up-and-coming hip-hop artist from Augusta Georgia, is more than just a rising voice in music — she’s a vibrant soul who lives to uplift others, spread good vibes, and embrace every moment life has to offer.
Alantra’s journey in music began in the heart of her childhood — at church. Every Sunday, she and her family gathered for worship, surrounded by soulful melodies and a spirit of community. It was in those early moments of fellowship that her love for singing began to blossom. As she grew older, that passion only deepened, eventually leading her to join the chorus during her term of high school.
The kick off of her music career began once she decided to take things professionally, and she was introduced to a producer that put her in a position where she can elevate her music.
“My producer wanted to develop me as an artist, so I decided to take it seriously and start learning the craft and treating it like work. I wanted to learn more in this industry and learn how to become a better artist. Gaining the knowledge to record and ways of expressing myself,” Alantra said.
Her music draws inspiration from the local community and the challenges she’s faced throughout her life. Rooted in emotion and past experiences, it has guided her into a new era — one where she finally sees herself achieving the dreams she once only imagined.
“Life experiences, emotions, trauma, and pain — all of that pours into my music and shapes my perspective. The way I perceive things and handle situations is really what my music is all about,” Alantra said.
Alantra recently hit the ground running after releasing her songs beginning in Sept. 2024. She typically faced challenges that shaped her into perfecting her craft as an underground artist.
“Recently the biggest challenge I have faced is the lack of support from friends and family members. Sometimes it makes you feel like, why am I doing it if the people that are watching aren’t supporting it?” Alantra said.
It is common that upcoming artists often face challenges in the music industry, although artist Alantra uses her positive instinct to continue to trust the process and continue to move without having self doubt.
However, the challenges that Alantra has faced as a rapper have demanded both persistence and creativity to overcome.
“Support is free! There are some who may support others who they do not know, but why not support someone you know that is trying to better themselves?” Alantra said.
Although Alantra has come to accept that setbacks like this can be disappointing, she’s learning that in the music industry, not everyone can handle seeing someone else succeed. This realization has shaped both her resilience and the message behind her music.
“Being self aware is important and don’t ever be afraid to put yourself out there,” Alantra said.
In addition to establishing herself as an underground artist in the local community, Alantra has released several songs that highlight her alter ego—giving listeners a glimpse into a different side of her artistry that draws them in and keeps them engaged.
Alantra is making waves with the release of her debut single, “Get It,” and it’s already catching fire. The track is racking up impressive numbers, proving that her unique sound is resonating with listeners and making a mark in the industry.
The song has struck a chord with listeners, thanks to its widespread availability across all platforms and its unique blend of New Orleans-inspired sound.
“The song is trending right now because of people realizing that the weather is breaking and it was made for a Summer Anthem. The song makes you want to move and it is also undeniable,” Alantra said.
Alantra hopes to use her music as a platform to uplift and inspire the HBCU community, aiming to create a lasting impact that extends beyond her sound and encourages future generations of artists to follow their own paths.
“I want my music to be a platform that uplifts and inspires the HBCU community. My goal is to make a lasting impact that goes beyond just the sound and motivates future generations of artists to forge their own paths. Always remind yourself that you can do anything you put your mind to.”
Alantra’s advice from her being a musical artist to her audience and students is to put yourself out there and never be afraid to take risks.
“Don’t overthink it, don’t dwell on it and don’t worry about it,” Alantra said.
Being your best self not only allows you to flow through life with purpose, but it also enables you to give back and support others. Uplifting those who need that push or help finding their way can create a ripple effect that goes a long way, making a difference in both their lives and the world around you.
Through her music and mission, Alantra continues to inspire, proving that success is not only about personal achievement, but about lifting others along the way.
