This year, Spring Fling’s theme was Las Vegas, and all events were themed accordingly. Events for Spring Fling went on throughout the week, starting on Monday, April 14, and ending on Friday, April 18. The event lineup, provided by VSU Student Activities, was as follows:
Spring Fling kicked off on Monday with “The Strip” Activity Hour, which took place on the Ave from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Students gathered on the Ave to enjoy music and dancing, the first taste of warm weather in a while, and to support candidates running for Student Government Association elections.
“Sin City Skate Night” also took place on Monday in Daniel’s Gym, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Daniel’s Gym was transformed into a roller skating rink for the night with the help of VSU’s SkateLab and a live DJ, with various roller skating-themed games and activities included in the event. “I had such a fun time learning how to skate, and Spring Fling is giving me so many opportunities to bond with my friends before they graduate,” an attendee said.
On Tuesday, the “Shots Up, Guns Down” Basketball Tournament took place at the Basketball Courts from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
On Wednesday night, the “Troy’s Palace” Block Party took place on the Ave from 9 p.m.-12 a.m. Hundreds of students got together on the Ave for a night of dancing and socializing while enjoying the fresh air.
On Thursday, the “High Roller Heaven Casino” Org Bazaar took place on Foster’s Back Lawn from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Many of VSU’s student organizations came out and set up tents on campus to spread the word about their various organizations and sell merchandise to make money for their organizations as well. Student Government Association election results were also revealed at the event, including positions such as the newly instated SGA President, Marquis Mason.
On Friday night, Spring Fling came to a close with the “Trina’s Cabaret” Gym Jam, which was in Daniel Gym from 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. Daniel Gym was packed with students enjoying the last day of VSU’s Spring Fling week before returning to the normal schedule the following week.
Spring Fling 2025 was a success, and gave students an opportunity to have some fun before Final Exams start in early May.
