With high hopes and dreams of student leadership aspirations, the end of Spring Fling Week brought the student government elections. Curiosity, hope, excitement, along with tears of joy filled the air.
With over 60 students seeking candidacy in either the Student Government Association or Royal Court, campaigning started on Wednesday April 1st for two weeks.
From catchy slogans to flyers along with engaging videos on social media, students have had two meet and greet days with the student body throughout those 2 weeks.
Many of the candidates built their platform off unity with dreams of enhancing the mission to create a sense of belonging for each class. Student election voting took place on Wednesday, April 15.
The SGA president is Zin Cambridge; Executive VP is Bria Ealy; VP of Academic Affairs is Cordal Ramsey Jr.; VP of Success and Engagement is Christina Hatcher; and VP of Administration is Nathaniel Patterson.
In addition to the elections, students enjoyed a number of other events. From the Block Party to Org Bazaar there was plenty to do.
Virginia State University Spring Fling 2026 was one of the most anticipated and exciting events of the spring semester, bringing together students for a full week of energy, entertainment, and Trojan pride.
Known as one of the biggest social highlights at Virginia State University, Spring Fling transforms campus into a vibrant space filled with music, activities, and nonstop interaction. For many students, it serves as a well-deserved break before finals and a chance to fully enjoy campus life.
One of the biggest highlights of Spring Fling 2026 was the major concert event, often promoted as the “804 Spring Fest.” This concert featured a lineup of rising artists such as Monaleo, YK Niece, Hurricane Wisdom, Nino Paid, Trim, and NaeDy.
By bringing in a mix of emerging and regional talent, the event created a high-energy experience that resonated with the student body. The concert was a ticketed event, which added to its scale and anticipation, making it feel like a professional music festival right on campus.
Students showed up ready to enjoy the performances, creating an electric atmosphere that stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the week.
Spring Fling 2026 at Virginia State University was a dynamic and impactful event that showcased the spirit of the student body. From exciting performances to everyday social interactions, the week embodied what it means to be part of a vibrant campus community. It was more than just a series of events it was a celebration of culture, connection, and the unique energy that defines VSU.
