Virginia State University graduate finds success at WBTV3 in Charlotte

Jeremiah Banks has a talent for marketing films that he knows the public likes. Banks works at WBTV3 in Charlotte, NC, as a marketing producer.

Banks creates videos for all kinds of events ranging from weddings to birthday parties. Banks says that creating videos is what inspired him to become a marketing producer.

“I wanted to be a marketing producer to be able to create different videos,” Banks said.

Banks explains that being able to work at WBTV is a wonderful experience for not only him, but for his family also.

“The best thing about working for WBTV is that my family is able to see all my work on television,” Banks said.

Even though he is in the television industry now, Banks wasn’t always interested in the industry growing up, until he got to high school.

“I got to senior year of high school. They had a film class and ever since I’ve been stuck,” Banks said.

Banks, who is also a VSU alumni, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications.  He says that the reason he picked mass communications as his major was because the major had everything that he loved.

“It was the field that involves everything that I love,” Banks said. “Learning about editing and broadcasting is a truly exciting field of work.”

Banks is also a three-time Emmy award winner in which he won Emmys for Single Spot Image, Documentary Single Spot, and Campaign Image Spot.

Banks says that his favorite thing about being a marketing producer is that he gets to go into his job doing what he loves every day.

Banks says that one thing that he hopes people will get out of his work is that they will be engaged in it and have a genuine appreciation for his work.

“I want them to be fully engaged in my work, have a real appreciation for my art,” Banks said.
