On Oct. 9 Bossman Dlow and Glorilla will grace the stage at Virginia State University. In the past homecomings, VSU has had well-known artists like Toosii, Mariah the Scientist, and Meek Mill to name a few.
VSU student Trèzure Givens is excited to see her favorite artist Glorilla perform.
“I’m most excited to see Glorilla because she is one of the hottest female rappers out right now,” Givens said.
Trojan Activities Board leader ZaMya Brown was thrilled by this year’s homecoming concert lineup.
“I am most excited to see Glorilla at the concert because I love her music and her flow. I think it will be fun to do the popular TikTok dances live, and in person with her,” Brown said.
Brown anticipates every year, when and who will be performing at the VSU Homecoming Concert. Since Brown is a senior, this is her last homecoming as a student.
“This is in fact my 4th homecoming concert. Since this is my final homecoming concert, I am excited to see what Glorilla brings to the stage,” Brown said.
The homecoming concert brings the crowd of students to come and listen to their favorite artists. It specifically allows students to enjoy a break outside of their day to day academics.
“What I enjoy most about the concerts is going with my friends and just enjoying the show by singing the songs,” Givens said.
The recommendations for the concert lineup comes from the on-campus community, whether it be directly from the students or faculty.
There is a wide range of artists’ names sent in, and once the Department of Student Activities receives these recommendations the staff works together in collaboration with the Multi-Purpose Center.
“Student leaders like myself who are a part of the Trojan Activities Board are involved with the creative events,” Brown said.
“With all these hands tied together to make a special event happen for this HBCU, it is also based on budget. The budget plays a significant role in the decision making progress,” Brown said.
Students can purchase tickets for the concert at the MPC box office.
